Where grass turns to sky
Where ebony is a dry skeleton,
Not a sun bonfire, and not cigarette smoke,
I'm afraid it’s not even your silhouette.
Heather and wormwood, and a silly grasshopper
Covered with water falling from the sky.
And the white droplets reflected in the month
But, I'm afraid that the grasshopper is just gray-haired.
Fluttered from and on the grass
Chirped about something of his own.
And what he sang - let others sing
But, I'm afraid that he did not sing, and did not fly.
All he knew was wormwood and heather
Met a dawn about a hundred times,
About a hundred songs
And about two times he was immensely happy.
And on the last day he swallowed the wind,
And, sparing neither wings nor legs,
Jumped higher, looked up at the sky
And I thought that he lived a happy life.
Where grass turns to sky
Where ebony is a dry skeleton,
Not a sun bonfire, and not cigarette smoke,
Where do you see your silhouette?
