Rigas Doms.

Riga
We were swept by empires. Never
We did not take the city of the city
But one managed to create
From stones above river water.
Where the waves fled, lights lit up,
The streets ran lace.
No palaces, no wards, no monasteries -
Labyrinth on the sand with ice.
Black cat, Yekaba Church, a spire in the lean -
Beauty, I am not subject to running days,
Proof of our involvement in her -
In the area of the soldered Rigas Doms.
War
We are in the forest, and the forest is permeated by the war.
The shots are tightly tightened with silence.
Between the trees froze with a gray wall
Our silent army.
It would be easier, but the enemy changed names.
Did it confuse us - trouble? guilt?
And what to do now - to beg? curse?
Or just wait for something?
In trouble, we seem to raise children,
After all, what language will become a stranger to them,
Whose words and deeds to hate them,
We will not be able to tell them.
River
We are always in the movement, our path is far away.
We look to the west, then to the east.
We are rivers flow, we are the threshold,
Slowing down her run.
Our dreams, doubts, is our sadness,
Our songs joy and anger steel
Like autumn leaves she carries into the distance,
Singing about something of your own.
Day will come - and we will float along it,
Becoming a little older and slightly stronger,
Realizing that in the world most important
To be in the river in an autumn leaf.
