Приглядись, на вершинах, сквозь стекла очков
Желтым цветом окрасился сумрак
Посмотри и на лес, что сквозь снег и сквозь дождь
Зеленеет хвоёй, как безумный
Мрак ночи опустился, хотя еще день,
Но зимой световой день короткий
Повезло, коль успел обустроить ночлег
И зверье не дерёт к небу глотки

Очертанья плывут, тени смотрят на свет
От сырого костра веет хмарью
Среди мерзлого леса он тихо дрожит
Мне одёжу коптя своей гарью

Мне теперь, хоть немножко пройти,
Дотянуть, дотерпеть
И, как будто просить у дороги
Надежды взаймы
Продираться сквозь холод и дождь,
Сквозь метелицы вой,
Через лужи и лёд,
По сугробам вперед
И вгрызаются пальцы в тропу
И прошиб спину пот,
Но сжимаются зубы,
И знаю - до цели поход
Это тридцать нелегких моих километров Зимы.

Первый шаг сделать просто, сложнее - второй,
Ничего не дается случайно
Чтобы стать человеком - ты должен, хоть раз
Испытать, что такое отчаянье

Меж угрюмых ночных зябко-хмурых стволов,
В круге света отлампы горящей

И вдыхая морозистый воздух
Я почувствую, что все невзгоды - пустяк
И всё в мире понятно и просто

И дорога теперь будто легче чуть-чуть
Перевалы и лёд не пугает
И в последних тенях, вдруг покажется Чудь
Она вслед мне с тоской покивает

And the road seems to be a little easier now
