1 Мудрый сын [слушает] наставление отца, а буйный не слушает обличения.
2 От плода уст [своих] человек вкусит добро, душа же законопреступников - зло.
3 Кто хранит уста свои, тот бережет душу свою; а кто широко раскрывает свой рот, тому беда.
4 Душа ленивого желает, но тщетно; а душа прилежных насытится.
5 Праведник ненавидит ложное слово, а нечестивый срамит и бесчестит [себя].
6 Правда хранит непорочного в пути, а нечестие губит грешника.
7 Иной выдает себя за богатого, а у него ничего нет; другой выдает себя за бедного, а у него богатства много.
8 Богатством своим человек выкупает жизнь [свою], а бедный и угрозы не слышит.
9 Свет праведных весело горит, светильник же нечестивых угасает.
10 От высокомерия происходит раздор, а у советующихся - мудрость.
11 Богатство от суетности истощается, а собирающий трудами умножает его.
12 Надежда, долго не сбывающаяся, томит сердце, а исполнившееся желание - [как] древо жизни.
13 Кто пренебрегает словом, тот причиняет вред себе; а кто боится заповеди, тому воздается.
14 [У сына лукавого ничего нет доброго, а у разумного раба дела благоуспешны, и путь его прямой.]
15 Учение мудрого - источник жизни, удаляющий от сетей смерти.
16 Добрый разум доставляет приятность, путь же беззаконных жесток.
17 Всякий благоразумный действует с знанием, а глупый выставляет напоказ глупость.
18 Худой посол попадает в беду, а верный посланник - спасение.
19 Нищета и посрамление отвергающему учение; а кто соблюдает наставление, будет в чести.
20 Желание исполнившееся - приятно для души; но несносно для глупых уклоняться от зла.
21 Общающийся с мудрыми будет мудр, а кто дружит с глупыми, развратится.
22 Грешников преследует зло, а праведникам воздается добром.
23 Добрый оставляет наследство [и] внукам, а богатство грешника сберегается для праведного.
24 Много хлеба [бывает] и на ниве бедных; но некоторые гибнут от беспорядка.
25 Кто жалеет розги своей, тот ненавидит сына; а кто любит, тот с детства наказывает его.
26 Праведник ест до сытости, а чрево беззаконных терпит лишение.
1 A wise son [hears] the instruction of his father, but a violent one does not listen to reproof.
2 From the fruit of [his] lips a man will taste good, but the soul of transgressors is evil.
3 He who keeps his mouth keeps his soul; and he who opens his mouth wide is in trouble.
4 The soul of the lazy wants, but in vain; but the soul of the diligent will be satisfied.
5 The righteous man hates false words, but the wicked shame and dishonor [himself].
6 Righteousness keeps the blameless on the way, but wickedness destroys the sinner.
7 Someone pretends to be rich, but he has nothing; the other pretends to be poor, but he has a lot of wealth.
8 With his riches, a man redeems his life, but the poor do not hear the threat.
9 The light of the righteous burns with joy, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10 From arrogance comes strife, but to those who take counsel comes wisdom.
11 Riches are depleted from vanity, but he who gathers by labor increases it.
12 A hope that does not come true for a long time torments the heart, but a fulfilled desire is [like] a tree of life.
13 He who neglects the word harms himself; but he who fears the commandment is rewarded.
14 [The wicked son has nothing good, but the intelligent servant has good deeds, and his path is straight.]
15 The teaching of the wise is the source of life, moving away from the networks of death.
16 A good mind is pleasant, but the way of the wicked is cruel.
17 Everyone who is prudent acts with knowledge, but the fool flaunts folly.
18 A bad ambassador gets into trouble, but a faithful one gets salvation.
19 Poverty and shame to him who rejects doctrine; but he who obeys the admonition will be honored.
20 A fulfilled desire is pleasant for the soul; but it is intolerable for fools to shirk evil.
21 He who associates with the wise will be wise, but whoever makes friends with the foolish will be corrupted.
22 Sinners are persecuted by evil, but the righteous are rewarded with good.
23 The good man leaves an inheritance [and] to his grandchildren, but the sinner's wealth is reserved for the righteous.
24 There is also much bread in the fields of the poor; but some are killed by the disorder.
25 He who spares his rod hates his son; and he who loves punishes him from childhood.
26 The righteous eat until they are full, but the belly of the wicked suffers deprivation.
