Today I want to talk about immersion, about what the Scripture says so: All of you who were baptized into Christ are clothed in Christ. Gal. 3:27. We say “baptism” and often do not understand the meaning of this word, but Bible baptism is the Greek word “baptiso”, i.e. full immersion. Of course, the very baptism that we accepted in the church is a symbolic prophetic action, but its meaning must be realized in order to strive to realize what we prophesy about ourselves by being baptized. We are called by God in order to “immerse ourselves” in the reality of His Kingdom, and we ourselves need to be striving for it, because the Lord says: the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone enters into it by effort. Bow. 16:16. Evangelism is a proclamation of the opportunity we need to use. The Lord in his first sermon quotes the prophet Isaiah when he says that He came to preach the Lord’s favorable year. Bow. 4:19. Today, looking at this beautiful summer weather, we can well understand not the symbolic, but the direct, applied meaning of these words! And if I tell you that you can go swimming, then you understand that this is only an appeal, it is a proclamation of a real opportunity, but to really swim, you will need to make a lot of effort and only when you get to the reservoir you can "dive", those. immerse yourself! Friends, the Lord calls us to immerse ourselves in His presence, but we need to understand that this requires some effort from us. Water pushes us when we dive and we need an effort to plunge. And behavior at depth is generally a science, and if you behave incorrectly there, you can simply die. It is important for us today, when discussing immersion or immersion, to see that even any human achievement always requires immersion! It is impossible to master any skills, achieve any victories, whether professional activity, study or sport, without plunging into the study and development of where we want to achieve something. It always requires a combination of theory and practice, the acquisition of skills through making mistakes, and only then, if we do not run away, but persistently continue to practice, learn and correct mistakes, we achieve the level of proficiency in the profession, we can really do something well, and on the human level we all understand that. But when we come to God, when we receive an invitation to His kingdom, we often behave the same way as those fans who sit on the TV and criticize the players for their mistakes, but they themselves do not know anything, only they know some standards of the game that players must match. But in order to enter the Kingdom of God it is not enough to be a “fan”, it is not enough to know some spiritual principles, there is no need for a “baptiso”, you need immersion, moreover, you need to learn how to overcome resistance and behave correctly in the depths! Friends, if we follow Christ, we are called to enter heaven itself, as the Scripture speaks of it: Christ did not enter the man-made sanctuary, built in the image of the true, but into heaven itself. Heb. 9:24. And this is not a metaphor, not allegory, it is literally the same as the Apostles observed: And when he blessed them, he began to move away from them and ascend to heaven. Bow. 24:51. If for us this is something utopian, it is only because we are not immersed in it, and therefore immersed in something else, because a person is always immersed in something and if, being atheists, we did not even have the opportunity to choose what you were immersed in, as it is written: when you were pagans, we went to mute idols, as if you were led (1 Cor. 12: 2), then having come to Christ, accepting by faith His atoning sacrifice, we ourselves choose what we are immersed in. And today I urge us to be honest in looking and seeing - what are we really immersed in! If we are honest and attentive to our ways, then of course we will see ourselves at least not completely immersed or clothed in Christ! And so that this would change, in order to become more and more immersed in Christ, we need to discover that we, by the nature of man, like to immerse in vanity! We experience pleasure in thinking and plunging into some kind of human activity and are comforted by the fact that this activity is not sinful. But the Lord puts the following things in a row: Look after yourself, so that your hearts are not aggravated by choking and drunkenness and the cares of everyday life, and so that day does not suddenly comprehend you. Bow. 21:34. He calls us to look at what we are immersed in, warning that in His eyes, vanity, drunkenness, and gluttony are equally dangerous. Friends, today I say that we are all immersed in vanity and are so used to this state that we no longer think that it could be otherwise. But the Lord convicting us of this in the same way also encourages us, saying that we can change this if we fulfill two conditions: First, vanity must be hated, recognized as an enemy, such as drunkenness or |
