СЛУЖЕНИЕ ЦЕРКВИ Today I want to continue talking about the church. Last Sunday, we reasoned that many have not yet been open - about the need for the church in human life, and today I want to talk about how we see the church. There are basic concepts that are considered to be well-known, but precisely because people, husbands and wives do not discuss what each of them means by the word “family”, often there are divorces. Friends, it’s time for us to recognize the need to say what we take for granted, because in fact we do not mean the same thing, and the sooner we see it, the easier it will be for us to accept a different perception of the other person. Today I want to invite us to reflect on how we see the church, what we mean when we pronounce this word. I remember once, in the early 90s, it was common among preachers of Protestant churches to speak from the pulpit that the church is not a building, but a gathering of believers. But Ap. Paul says that this congregation of believers has yet to come to the unity of faith, for this, according to the words of the Holy Scriptures, God sets the ministers: to fulfill the saints, to the work of the ministry, to build up the Body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son Of God, as a perfect man, to the extent of the full age of Christ; Eph. 4: 12-13. It turns out that the church is a gathering of believers, which strives to come to the unity of faith. And I will take the liberty to say that the greater this aspiration, the more we are a church. If there is a meeting, but there is no or not enough aspiration to come to the unity of faith, then it turns out that, according to the fabulist, this is a collection of “swan, crayfish and pike”, in which, according to the sad testimony of the Apostle: everyone is looking for their and not what Jesus Christ wants. Phil. 2:21. And here is my question: Is such a meeting a church before God? Of course, you can call it “the church”, just like the Mormons call themselves “The Church of Latter-day Saints,” but we know that this is a collection of heretics not born again, a collection of corruptors. And the Lord Himself speaks of one of the churches in the Book of Revelation: I know your affairs; you bear a name as if alive, but you are dead. Revelation 3: 1. Therefore, the question is not only to get together, this is a necessary condition, but not the only thing that makes us a church. I am not afraid to compare the church with the family, because Ap. Paul does this when he says: Therefore, a man will leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and there will be two one flesh. This mystery is great; I speak in relation to Christ and to the Church. Eph. 5: 31-32. With family, it’s a little easier for us to understand, and here’s what I want to ask: Does the family become a family from registration in the registry office, from joint farming and from the birth of children? Saying "family", I mean unity and mutual understanding between a man and a woman who love each other and who, in this love and unity, have the strength together to overcome all the difficulties "until death do them part." If the registration of marriage and the birth of children gave this force, then we would not have seen so many divorces and so many tragedies in families! No, this unity must be built, for this love must be fought and it never happens that everything has already been done, there are no “built relationships” in the family, they are always built, but if we have experience in overcoming difficulties and misunderstanding each other, if we learn to fit each other and be patient, then, according to the Scriptures: patience comes from sorrow, experience comes from patience, hope comes from experience, and hope doesn't shame. Rome. 5: 3-5. What has been passed together, the experience of overcoming difficulties, the experience of gaining unity becomes the value of the family, it is like cement, connecting “living stones” together. At the same time, some external goals that we set out for ourselves can be achieved or not, at some point this does not matter, because the main thing can be and is only what we have overcome together, what we have learned together. Those who made this discovery can build a family that will be able to overcome any difficulties, and those who build on “external” achievements will be together only under conditions of “external” success. Therefore, Christ, as the Scripture tells us: Being an image of God, did not consider stealing to be equal to God; but he humbled himself by taking the form of a slave. Phil. 2: 6-7. He did not go with the apostles as a successful “dynamic preacher of a rapidly growing church”, but as persecuted, as criticized, as He, whom many were seduced, and He testified to them: You were with Me in My misfortunes. Onion. 22:28. In these tribulations, in these persecutions, the first church was born, and it was not just a “Sunday meeting,” no, they went along with Jesus and with each other, they paid their price, as Ap. Peter: Now, we have left everything and followed you. Onion. 18:28. We want to be a church and it’s good and pleasing to the Lord, but it’s important for us to understand that we are building something more than “a Sunday meeting + a meeting in home groups + ten |
