1. В конце тринадцатого века

Среди Черниговских равнин

Стояла маленькая церковь,

Куда ходили мать и сын.

Отец, хоть был ещё нестарым,

Dm

Уже покинул бренный мир,

Но вот и матушки не стало,

Dm

А без неё и свет не мил.



2. Лишь только в церкви, пред иконой,

Мог сын утешиться сполна:

Была от матушки покойной

Благословением она.

Лик Богородицы Марии

Был вновь лампадой освещён,

Теперь он сам пред Ней молился,

Молитвой матери взращён



3. Но годы шли, и мир менялся,

И он о матери забыл,

Но всё ж, куда б ни отправлялся,

Он в эту церковь заходил.

И как-то раз, задумав злое,

Греховным помыслом прельщён,

Перед иконою святою

Привычно стал молиться он:



4. — О, Благодатная Мария! —

Он восклицал, — Господь с Тобой! —

Вдруг словно вспышка озарила

Лик Богородицы Cвятой,

Она смотрела прямо в сердце,

И он уже не помнил слов,

А из открытых ран Младенца

Живая заструилась Кровь.



5. — О, Госпоже, кто это сделал? —

Не мог узнать он голос свой.

С иконы отвечала Дева:

— Грехами ты распял Его!

И возопил от горя грешник,

И слёзы хлынули из глаз,

И жизнь его, как ад кромешный,

Ему открылась в тот же час.



6. И умоляя о прощеньи,

Он вспомнил вдруг родную мать,

И в то же самое мгновенье

Его коснулась благодать.

А Божьей Матери отрада —

С любовью миловать людей:

Она — Нечаянная Радость

Для тех, кто гибнет от страстей.

Father, even though he was not old,

Already left the mortal world,

But then mother died

And without it, the light is not nice.

  

2. Only in the church, in front of the icon,

The son could console himself in full:

Was from mother deceased

Blessing she.

Face of the Virgin Mary

Was again illuminated by a lamp

Now he himself prayed before Her,

Mother's Prayer Raised

  

3. But years passed, and the world changed,

And he forgot about his mother,

But still, wherever he went,

He went into this church.

And once, having conceived evil,

Seduced by sinful thought,

Before the holy icon

He habitually began to pray:

 

4. - Oh, blessed Mary! -

He exclaimed, “The Lord is with you!” -

Suddenly, as if a flash lit up

Face of the Virgin Mary,

She looked right in the heart

And he no longer remembered the words,

And from the open wounds of the Baby

Living blood has built up.

 

5. - Oh, Madam, who did this? -

He could not recognize his voice.

The Virgin answered from the icon:

“You crucified Him with sins!”

And the sinner cried out from grief,

And tears surged from my eyes

And his life is like total hell,

He opened at the same hour.

 

6. And begging for forgiveness,

He suddenly remembered his own mother,

And at the same moment

Grace touched him.

And it is joy to the Mother of God -

To pardon people with love:

She is an Unexpected Joy

For those who die from passions.
