On the eve of Halloween 1938, the Mercury Theater's Artists decided to put the Roman Herbert Wells "War of the Worlds" in their clock program, moved his action in New Jersey 1939. At the beginning of an hour, one of the artists announced the start of the radio show, after which the weather forecast sounded, and then the concert of Ramon Raquello and his Orchestra began (in fact orchestra under the leadership of Bernard Herrmanna). Soon the music interrupted an urgent message that strange outbreaks are observed on Mars. Then the allegedly known professor-astronomer Princeton Richard Pearson (voiced Oron Wells) refuted the possibility of living in Mars. The concert continued, but soon again was interrupted by a special issue of news. The CBS CBS reporter (Frank Ridic) has passed the landing of the metal cylinder in the town of Grews-Mill Mör County. Soon the cylinder was transformed into the car, the heat rays sewing everything around. Phillips shouted something and tried to put out the mobile studio, the connection was interrupted. Professor Pearson began to argue about the technical level of Martian, then the head of the National Guard of New Jersey announced an emergency situation and led his parts into battle.
Earth's weapon turned out to be unable to confront the aliens, new deadly cars continued to land and destroy people and infrastructure, the crowds of people fled away from the invaders. Unnamed Minister of Internal Affairs (Kenny Delmar) turned to the nation (the radio station banned the appeal of President Franklin Roosevelt, but Delmar also portrayed Roosevelt's voice). Soon a reporter was released at the artillery part that fired Martian. Those also attacked the bombers who were destroyed by the rays of death, although they were able to blame one of the aliens devices. Marciana used poisoning gases, and the connection was interrupted again. CBS officer (Ray Collins) got on the roof of CBS Building, from where he saw several Martian cars crossing Hudson. He also felt a poisonous smell, after which the broadcast was interrupted. Through the interference made the radio amateur, trying to contact at least someone. Only at this moment (about 40 minutes after starting), the announcer recalled the fiction of the events described. Then Professor Pearson described the completion of the attack of the aliens, whom the absence of immunity to earth bacteria ruined. At the end of the hour, Wells came out of the image and congratulated the audience with Halloween.
