Arcade Fire is a Canadian rock band, formed by a duet, Win Butler and Ridzhin Shassen in 2003 in Montreal, Quebec, and performing experimental alternative rocks with elements of art clock and post-punk. Using, along with traditional instruments, an accordion, harp and strings, the group practices chapping concerts, during which it improvises, sometimes withdrawing thousands of crowds of spectators to the streets and in parks.
Both albums of the group were awarded high assessments of criticism. The debut Funeral (2004) took first place in the MTV2 50 Greatest Albums of the Year list and received 2 Grammy nominations. The second, Neon Bible (2007) headed the album lists of Canada and Ireland, rose to 2nd place in the USA and Great Britain and went to 1st place in the list of the best albums of 2007 by Q Magazine magazine. In 2008, the album was nominated for Brit Awards and became the Juno Awards laureate in the Best Alternative Album of the Year nomination.
