Якось Мойсей, блукаючи по пустелі, зустрів пастуха. Мойсей провів із ним цілий день, допоміг подоїти овець. Коли вже стемніло, пророк зауважив, що пастух відлив трохи молока до посудини і поставив її на скелі, недалечко від того місця, де вони ото перебували.

Мойсей спитав пастуха, для чого він поставив там молоко. Пастух відповів: «Це молоко для Господа Бога».

Пророк попросив пояснити. Пастух сказав: «Я завжди наливаю трохи найліпшого молока і жертвую його Господу Богу».

Мойсей відчув обов’язок виправити віру пастуха, а тому повів бесіду далі: «А чи Господь Бог п’є це молоко?»

«Звичайно», — відповів пастух.

Мойсей узявся пояснювати, що Бог є істотою духовною, а отже, не може пити молока. Пастух не йняв віри. Відтак Мойсей запропонував йому сховатися за кущами і прослідкувати, чи Бог п’є його молоко.

Уночі, у місячному світлі, пастух побачив, як із пустелі прибіг лис. Пильно оглянувши все довкола, звір підбіг до молока і став похапцем його хлебтати. А за якусь часину знову зник у пустелі.

Наступного дня Мойсей помітив, що пастух дуже сумний.

«Щось не так?» — спитав він. «Ти мав рацію, — важко зітхнув пастух. — Господь Бог є чистим духом і не п’є мого молока».

Мойсей здивовано вигукнув: «Ти мав би бути задоволений! Зараз-бо знаєш про Бога більше, аніж кілька днів тому».

«Це правда, — визнав пастух. — Але тепер я позбавлений єдиного способу виявити Йому свою любов».

Мойсей зрозумів ці слова. Він відійшов і став ревно молитися на самоті. Уночі йому явився Бог і мовив: «Мойсею, ти припустився помилки. Це правда, що Я є істотою духовною, але Я з радістю приймав молоко, яке пастух приносив Мені як знак своєї любови. Оскільки Я того молока не потребував, то ділився ним із лисом, який так його любить».

Є-бо такі, що, посівши всі розуми, висміюють віру простих людей. Згадаймо сповнену радости молитву Ісуса:

«Я прославляю Тебе, Отче, Господи неба й землі, що Ти затаїв це від мудрих та розумних і що відкрив це немовлятам. Так, Отче, бо так тобі було до вподоби» (Мт. 11, 25-26).

Once upon a time, Moses met the shepherd as he wandered through the desert. Moses spent the whole day with him, helped to milk the sheep. When it was getting dark, the prophet noticed that the shepherd had poured some milk into the vessel and placed it on the rock, not far from where they were.

Moses asked the shepherd why he had put milk there. The shepherd replied, "This is milk for the Lord God."

The Prophet asked for an explanation. The shepherd said, "I always pour some of the finest milk and sacrifice it to the Lord God."

Moses felt obliged to correct the faith of the shepherd, and therefore led the conversation further: "Does the Lord God drink this milk?"

"Of course," the shepherd replied.

Moses undertook to explain that God is a spiritual being and therefore cannot drink milk. The shepherd had no faith. Moses then suggested that he hide behind the bushes and see if God drinks his milk.

At night, in the moonlight, the shepherd saw a fox coming out of the desert. Looking closely all around, the beast ran to the milk and began to bite it. And for some time he disappeared again in the desert.

The next day, Moses noticed that the shepherd was very sad.

"Something is wrong?" He asked. "You were right," the shepherd sighed heavily. "The Lord God is pure in spirit and does not drink my milk."

Moses exclaimed in surprise: “You should be pleased! You know more about God now than a few days ago. "

"That's true," the shepherd admitted. "But now I am deprived of the only way to show Him my love."

Moses understood these words. He departed and began to pray fervently in solitude. At night God appeared to him and said, "Moses, you have made mistakes. It is true that I am a spiritual being, but I gladly received the milk that the shepherd brought to me as a sign of his love. Because I didn't need that milk, I shared it with the fox who loves it so much. "

There are such that, having sown all the minds, they ridicule the faith of ordinary people. Remember the prayer of Jesus full of joy:

"I praise thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid it from the wise and wise, and that it hath revealed it unto the infants. Yes, Father, for it pleased you ”(Mt 11: 25-26).
