В странах Сумрака и Льда,
Петь заставил вещий молот,
Залил блеском города.
Сквозь пустыню и над бездной
Ты провел свои пути,
Чтоб нервущейся, железной
Нитью землю оплести.
В древних, вольных Океанах,
Где играли лишь киты,
На стальных левиафанах
Пробежал державно ты.
Змея, жалившего жадно
С неба выступы дубов,
Изловил ты беспощадно,
Неустанный зверолов.
И шипя под хрупким шаром,
И в стекле согнут в дугу,
Он теперь, покорный чарам,
Светит хитрому врагу.
Царь несытый и упрямый
Четырех подлунных царств,
Не стыдясь, ты роешь ямы,
Множишь тысячи коварств,-
Но, отважный, со стихией
После бьешься, с грудью грудь,
Чтоб еще над новой выей
Петлю рабства захлестнуть.
Верю, дерзкий! Ты поставишь
Над землей ряды ветрил,
Ты своей рукой направишь
Бег в пространстве, меж светил,-
И насельники вселенной,
Те, чей путь ты пересек,
Повторят привет священный:
Будь прославлен, Человек!

Steady, unchanging,

Along the wilderness paths of centuries
You walk with an ax
You aim with a bow, you set the net.
Triumphing over the enemy!
Stones, wind, water, flame
You humbled your bridle
Raised a jubilant banner

The prophetic hammer made me sing
Filled with brilliance of the city.
Through the desert and above the abyss
You spent your paths
So that the nervous, iron
Braid the earth with a thread.
In the ancient, free oceans,
Where only whales played
On steel leviathans
You ran powerfully.
A snake stinging eagerly
Overhangs of oaks from the sky
You caught mercilessly
Relentless hunters.
And hissing under a fragile ball
And in the glass bent into an arc,
He is now submissive to the spell,
Shines to the cunning enemy.
The king is full and stubborn
Four lunar kingdoms
Do not be ashamed, you dig holes
You multiply thousands of deceit -
But, brave, with the elements
After you beat, with breasts chest,
To still over a new voya
The loop of slavery overwhelmed.
I believe, impudent! You put
Rows of sails above the ground
You will direct with your hand
Running in space, between the stars, -
And the inhabitants of the universe,
Those whose path you crossed
Sacred hello repeat:
Be glorified, Man!
