Бытие — самое забытое, так безмерно забытое, что даже эта забытость оказывается еще и втянутой в свой собственный водоворот. Все мы постоянно гонимся за сущим; едва ли кто один задумывается когда-либо о бытии. Когда это происходит, то пустота этого обобщеннейшего и понятнейшего развязывает его от привязанности, отдаться которой он в какой-то момент раздумывал. Но забытейшее есть одновременно памятнейшее, что единственно допускает вникнуть в былое, настоящее и наступающее и устоять внутри них.

Being is the most forgotten, so immensely forgotten that even this forgetfulness is also drawn into its own whirlpool. We are all constantly chasing existence; hardly anyone ever thinks about being. When this happens, the emptiness of this most generalized and most understandable unties him from the attachment, to which he was thinking at some point. But the forgotten is at the same time the most memorable, which alone allows one to penetrate into the past, present and future, and to stand within them.
