Nick contacted John Wood in October 1971 to begin work on what would become his last album. In the studio, he came around midnight, holding a guitar in his hand. Recording the album took two nights in late October of 1971 and in total - only four hours. In the studio, there were only Drake and Wood. During these sessions the night Nick was in a deep depression, for all the time he said only a few words of voodoo, and when he asked him what was the matter, Nick mumbled something unintelligible and went.
In Zigzag magazine, Connor McKnight critic wrote:
Nick Drake - it's an artist who never pretends. The album leaves no stone unturned in the theory that music should be escapist. It's just a moment of perception of life musician, and you can not ask for more.
I personally own zavorazhen this deep, mysterious, sad, charming album - when you listen to just drown in music. album lasts 28 minutes, but more and is not necessary at all. He is considered one of the best albums in the history of music, being in the top hundred.
