В 1998 и 1999 Aphex Twin выпускает свои "Come to Daddy" и "Windowlicker" синглы. Оба преимущественно в стиле Drill 'n' Bass, и оба имели большой коммерческий успех во всем мире.
К 1999 г. само название "Drill 'n' Bass" теряет свою популярность. Новые успешные исполнители этого сложного комплексного саунда в d'n'b (Venetian Snares и Doormouse) теперь стали называть свою музыку breakcore

"Amen break" - впервые был придуман Gregory C. Coleman (The Winstons). Amen break представляет собой наиболее часто используемый drum loop сэмпл. Чаще всего его можно услышать в hip-hop и drum'n'bass.
Этот сэмпл длительностью 5,20 секунд состоит из 16 битов ломаного ритма, взятых из песни "Amen My Brother" которую в 1960 исполнили The Winstons.

Сама песня стала известной в 1986г. когда Louis Flores включил её в свой "Ultimate Breaks & Beats" бутлег. Louis сделал в этом сэмпле 4 перерыва между битами и проиграл его с замедленной скоростью. За счет этого он получил разницу в темпе в середине песни. Затем диджеи проигрывали оригинал и то, что получилось у Louisа на двух разных вертушках, совмещая биты. И наверняка у них выходила что-то неплохое.... ;)

The song itself became famous in 1986. when Louis Flores included it in his Ultimate Breaks & Beats bootleg. Louis took 4 breaks between bits in this sample and lost it at a slower speed. Due to this, he got a tempo difference in the middle of the song. Then the DJs played the original and what happened with Louis on two different turntables, combining the bits. And surely they got something good ....;)
