Страшную тайну поведую вам
Что мне мой дед перед смертью сказал
Он был полярником, всё повидал
Но, то что он перед смертью сказал,
Врезалось в память мою навсегда
Лучше б я это не знал никогда:
Путь в Антарктиду лежал их тогда
Никто не думал что ждёт их беда
В срок их посудина в бухту пришла
Лагерь разбили они неспеша
А через день, лишь сползла пелена
Пики вершин озарила луна
Не было гор равных им в высоте
Все восхищались немой красоте
И решено было сразу тогда
Утром отправить команду туда
Люди ушли, уж неделя прошла
Нет всё вестей - видно плохи дела
В путь на собаках отправился дед
Прибыл на место к полудню, в обед
Лагерь был пуст, и вокруг ни души
Так он стоял там, в безмолвной тиши
Вдруг он заметил следы на снегу
Будто кого волочили в пургу
Следуя им, он пошёл попятам
Снег постепенно следы заметал
Больше и больше - надежды уж нет...
Вышел он к тёмной огромной норе
Внутренний страх - победил интерес
Дед осторожно в пещеру полез
Был он в тоннеле, что под гору шёл
Глубже и глубже всё путь его вёл
Взору открылись большие залы
На стенах фрески какой то страны
Глядя на всё это дед понимал
Что этой рассы никто не видал
Мерзкие щупальца вместо голов
Строили замки посредством рабов
В роли рабов - род гигантских червей
Башни, дворцы собирали с камней
Что же случилось? - подумал старик
Что их постигло? - и в этот миг
Всё затряслось, задрожала земля
Вскоре увидел он тело червя
Злобный, здоровый - как поезд в ночи
Выполз на запах с бездонной норы
В ушах раздался пронзительный визг
В ужасе вздрогнул, как лист, мой старик
И побежал он со всех сил назад
Быстро как мог - за спиной этот гад,
С каждой секундой его настигал -
Тысячитонный безногий амбал!
Вот, наконец, виден выход в ночи
Сердце на самом пределе стучит
Выход на волю - последний рывок!
Сзади раскрылся зубастый замок
Прыгнул вперёд дед - червяк завизжал!
Свет за тоннелем его ослеплял
Червь удалился, а дед сам не свой,
Понял что было ночною порой.
И возвращаясь в родные края
Дал себе клятву - что было не зря
Правду не скажет, решил, никому
Будто бы всех завалило в пургу
Что бы в то страшное место земли,
Новые люди опять не пришли
И только в час тот, на смертном одре,
Он рассказал ту историю мне.

Нет в них как ни зла
Так и нет добра

Лишь ночной порой выходят в мир
Вылезают они с чёрных дыр
И ползут, на запах, за едой
Лезут за тобой
Лезут за тобой!

До конца дней тайну я хранил
Чтоб опять никто не пожелал
Посетить кошмар
Тот большой кошмар!

I'll tell you a terrible secret
What did my grandfather say to me before death
He was a polar explorer, he saw everything
But, what he said before his death,
Incised into my memory forever
It would be better if I never knew this:
The path to Antarctica lay them then
Nobody thought what awaits them.
On time, their dish came to the bay
They camped leisurely.
And a day later, only a veil slipped
The peaks of the peaks illuminated by the moon
There were no mountains equal to them in height
Everyone admired the dumb beauty
And it was decided immediately then
In the morning send the team there
People are gone, a week has passed
There is no news - bad things can be seen
Grandfather set off on dogs

Suddenly he noticed footprints in the snow

Vile tentacles instead of heads
Castles were built by slaves

Towers, palaces collected from stones
What happened? the old man thought
What befell them? - and at that moment
Everything shook, the earth trembled
He soon saw the body of a worm
Vicious, healthy - like a train in the night
Crawled out to smell from a bottomless hole
A piercing screech sounded in my ears
Terrified, startled like a leaf, my old man
And he ran back with all his might
As fast as he could - behind this bastard,
Every second he overtook him -
Thousand-ton legless ambal!
Here, finally, the exit in the night is visible
Heart beats at the very limit
Going out is the last spurt!
A toothy lock opens behind
Grandfather jumped forward - the worm screeched!
The light behind the tunnel blinded him
The worm left, and the grandfather himself wasn’t his own,
I understood what happened at night.
And returning to their native land
He swore an oath - which was not in vain
He won’t tell the truth, he decided no one
As if everyone had been thrown into a blizzard
That would be in that terrible place of the earth,
New people did not come again
And only at that hour, on his deathbed,
He told that story to me.
