СЕМЬ ДОЛИН

Во имя Бога Милостивого,
Милосердного!

Хвала Богу, что вывел бытие из небытия; начертал на скрижали человека таинства предсуществования; научил его чрез тайны Божественного речения тому, чего тот не ведал; обратил его во Светоносную Книгу для тех, кто уверовал и покорился; побудил его в сей черный и гибельный век свидетельствовать о сотворении всякой вещи и чудным голосом возвещать с вершины вечности в Превосходном Храме1, дабы всякий человек мог исповедовать в себе и собою на ступени Явления Господа своего, что, воистину, нет Бога иного, кроме Него, и что всякий человек может обрести свой путь до горних пределов бытия, где при всяком созерцании он видел бы только Бога.

Восхваляю и славлю первое море, что отделилось от океана Божественной Сути, и первую зарю, что воссияла на Небосклоне Единости, и первое солнце, что поднялось на Небе Вечности, и первый огонь, что был зажжен от Лампады Предсуществования в светильнике единосущия. У Того, Кто в царстве возвышенных был наречен Ахмадом, в сонме приближенных – Мухаммадом, в обители праведных – Махмудом2, – «... как бы вы ни звали Его, у Него самые лучшие имена»3* в сердцах тех, кто ведает. Да будет дому Его и спутникам Его мир обильный, прочный и вечный!

Далее Мы склонили слух к тому, что пел соловей познания на ветвях древа твоего бытия, и узнали, о чем возвещала голубка убежденности из беседки твоего сердца. Воистину, когда Я читал твое послание, Мне казалось, что Я вдыхаю чистые ароматы от одежд твоей любви и пребываю близ тебя. А поскольку заметил Я, что ты упоминаешь о своей смерти в Боге и жизни чрез Него, и о любви своей к любящим Бога, и к Явлениям Имен Его, и к Восходам Его Признаков, – посему раскрою Я тебе святые и блистающие знамения от долин славы, дабы привлечь тебя ко двору святости, близости и красоты, и привести тебя к вершине, на коей не узришь ты в творении ничего, кроме Лика Возлюбленного тобою, Славного, и постигнешь все сотворенное, как в тот день, о коем нет поминания.

О сем пел соловей единости в саду Гаусийа4. Он говорил: «И здесь проявятся на скрижали сердца твоего письмена чудных тайн – “Бойтесь Бога, поистине, Бог вас вразумит”5, и птица души твоей вспомнит священные обители предсуществования и воспарит на крылах томления в небеса, ибо сказано: “Ходи по путям Господа твоего со смирением”, и соберет плоды причащения в садах, ибо сказано: “Потом питайся всякими плодами”»6.

Жизнью Моей клянусь, о друг, когда бы ты вкусил от плодов из кущ цветения, что зеленеют в краях знания близ утренних огней Сути, отраженных в зерцалах имен и признаков, – нетерпение вырвало бы из рук твоих узды смирения и сдержанности, и заставило бы душу твою трепетать переливающимися огнями, и вознесло бы тебя из земной юдоли к первой небесной обители, что в Средоточии Сущего, и подняло бы тебя в такие пределы, где ты парил бы в воздухе, как шагаешь по тверди, и ходил бы по водам, как ступаешь по суше. Посему да возрадуюсь Я и ты, и всякий, кто восходит к небесам знания и чье сердце сим освежается, ибо повеял ветер несомненности в саду Его бытия, исходящий из страны Сабейской, что от Всемилостивого7.

Мир тому, кто следует Прямым Путем!

И далее: говорят, что стадий, отмечающих путешествие от юдоли праха до небесной обители, суть семь. Иные называют их Семью Долинами, а иные – Семью Градами. Говорят еще, что пока странник не отрешится от себя и не пройдет сих стадий, ему вовек не достичь океана близости и единения, и не испить несравненного вина. Первая из них

In the name of the Merciful God,
Merciful!

Praise God for bringing being out of non-being; inscribed on the tablet of a person the mysteries of pre-existence; taught him through the mysteries of Divine speech what he did not know; turned him into a Book of Light for those who believed and submitted; prompted him in this black and disastrous age to testify about the creation of all things and to proclaim with a wonderful voice from the summit of eternity in the Excellent Temple1, so that every person could confess in himself and with himself at the stage of the Appearance of his Lord that, in truth, there is no other God but Him, and that every man can find his way to the upper reaches of being, where in every contemplation he would see only God.

I praise and glorify the first sea that separated from the ocean of the Divine Essence, and the first dawn that shone in the Sky of Unity, and the first sun that rose in the Heaven of Eternity, and the first fire that was kindled from the Lamp of Pre-Existence in the lamp of consubstantiality. He who was named Ahmad in the kingdom of the exalted, Muhammad among those close to him, and Mahmud in the abode of the righteous, “... whatever you call Him, He has the best names” 3 * in the hearts of those who know. May peace be abundant, lasting and eternal to His house and His companions!

Further, We incline the rumor to the fact that the nightingale of knowledge was singing on the branches of the tree of your being, and we learned what the dove of conviction proclaimed from the arbor of your heart. Indeed, when I read your message, it seemed to me that I was breathing in the pure aromas from the clothes of your love and staying near you. And since I noticed that you mention your death in God and life through Him, and your love for those who love God, and for the Appearance of His Names, and for the Ascents of His Signs, therefore I will reveal to you the holy and shining signs from the valleys of glory , in order to attract you to the court of holiness, intimacy and beauty, and lead you to the top, where you will not see anything in creation except the Face of your Beloved, Glorious, and you will comprehend everything created, as on that day, of which there is no remembrance.

The nightingale of unity sang about this in the garden of Gausiya4. He said: “And here the letters of wonderful secrets will appear on the tablet of your heart -“ Fear God, verily, God will give you understanding ”5, and the bird of your soul will remember the sacred abode of pre-existence and soar on the wings of longing into heaven, for it is said:“ Walk the paths Thy Lord with humility, ”and he will gather the fruits of communion in the gardens, for it is said:“ Then eat of all kinds of fruits ”” 6.

I swear by My life, O friend, if you would taste of the fruits from the bushes of flowering that turn green in the edges of knowledge near the morning lights of Essence, reflected in the mirrors of names and signs, impatience would snatch from your hands the reins of humility and restraint, and force the soul your flutter with iridescent lights, and would have lifted you from the earthly vale to the first heavenly abode, which is in the Center of Being, and would have lifted you to such limits where you would float in the air, as you walk on a firmament, and walk on the waters, as you step overland. Therefore, let me and you rejoice, and everyone who ascends to the heavens of knowledge and whose heart is refreshed by this, for the wind of certainty blew in the garden of His being, coming from the Sabaean country, which is from the All-Merciful.
