— Я обязательно, ты слышишь? Я обязательно, — сказал Медвежонок. Ёжик кивнул.

— Я обязательно приду к тебе, что бы ни случилось. Я буду возле тебя всегда.

Ёжик глядел на Медвежонка тихими глазами и молчал.

— Ну что ты молчишь?

— Я верю, — сказал Ёжик.

Ёжик провалился в волчью яму и просидел там неделю. Его случайно нашла Белка: она пробегала мимо и услышала слабый Ёжикин голос.

Медвежонок неделю искал Ёжика по лесу, сбился с ног и, когда к нему прибежала Белка, вытащил Ёжика из ямы и принес домой.

Ёжик лежал, по самый нос укрытый одеялом, и глядел на Медвежонка тихими глазами.

— Не смотри на меня так, — сказал Медвежонок. — Не могу, когда на меня так смотрят.

Ёжик закрыл глаза.

— Ну вот, теперь ты как будто умер. Ёжик открыл глаза.

— Улыбнись, — сказал Медвежонок.

Ёжик попробовал, но у него слабо получилось.

— Сейчас я тебя буду поить бульоном, — сказал Медвежонок. — Белка принесла свежих грибков, я сварил бульон.

Он налил бульон в чашку и приподнял Ёжику голову.

— Нет, не так, — сказал Медвежонок. — Ты садись.

— Не могу, — сказал Ёжик.

— Я тебя подушкой подопру. Вот так.

— Мне тяжело, — сказал Ёжик.

— Терпи.

Медвежонок прислонил Ёжика спиной к стене и подоткнул подушку.

— Мне холодно, — сказал Ёжик.

— Сичас-сичас. — Медвежонок взобрался на чердак и обложил Ёжика тулупом. — Как ты не замерз? Ночи-то какие холодные! — приговаривал Медвежонок.

— Я прыгал, — сказал Ёжик.

— Семь дней?

— Я ночью прыгал.

— Что ж ты ел?

— Ничего, — сказал Ёжик. — Ты мне дашь бульону?

— Ах, да! Пей, — сказал Медвежонок.

Ёжик сделал несколько глотков и закрыл глаза.

— Пей-пей!

— Устал, — сказал Ёжик.

— Нет, пей! — И Медвежонок стал поить Ёжика с ложечки.

— Не могу больше.

— За меня!

Ёжик хлебнул.

— За Белочку!

Ёжик выпил.

— За Зайца! Он знаешь как помогал!

— Погоди, — сказал Ёжик. — Передохну.

— Выпей за Зайца, он старался..

Ёжик глотнул.

— За Хомячка!

— А Хомячок что сделал?

— Ничего. Каждый день прибегал и спрашивал.

— Пусть подождет. Сил нет, — сказал Ёжик.

— Иногда и утром прибегал, — сказал Медвежонок. — Съешь ложечку.

Ёжик проглотил.

— А теперь — за Филина!

— Филин-то при чем?

— Как? Нет, за Филина ты выпьешь три ложки.

— Да почему?

— Да я на нем три ночи летал. Тебя искали.

— На Филине?

— Ну да!

— Врешь, — сказал Ёжик.

— Чтоб мне с места не сойти!

— Да как ты на него взобрался?

— Он знаешь какой крепкий? Сел на шею и полетел. Ты бы видел, как Заяц, нас испугался.

— Как?

— Вот выпей — скажу.

Ёжик выпил подряд три ложки и снова закрыл глаза.

— Как? — спросил он.

— Что?

— Как Заяц вас испугался?

— А! Заяц? Представляешь? Я лечу. А тут — он. Давай еще ложечку. Слышишь, как пахнет? Ух!

Ёжик выпил.

— Ну вот. Сидит, ушами вертит. Тут мы.

— С Филином?

— Ага. Он ка-ак подскочит, ка-ак побежит! Филин чуть на дерево не налетел. Давай за Филина.

— Нет. Уже совсем не могу, — сказал Ёжик. — Давай я лягу.

Медвежонок уложил Ёжика на прежнее место и укрыл тулупом.

— Ну как, — спросил Медвежонок, — тепло?

— Угу, — сказал Ёжик. — А про Филина придумал? Говори.

— Да что ты? Вот выздоровеешь, вместе полетаем.

— Полетаем, — еле слышно пробормотал Ёжик, засыпая.
