Black Sabbath Vol. 4 — четвёртый студийный альбом Black Sabbath, записанный группой с продюсером Патриком Миэном и выпущенный 25 сентября 1972 года. Альбом поднялся до #8 в UK Albums Chart и до #13 в Billboard 200. Единственный сингл из альбома Tomorrow’s Dream вышел в Германии, Нидерландах и Франции.
Первоначально предполагалось назвать альбом Snowblind, но рекорд-компания, зная о кокаиновом подтексте одноимённого трека, испугалась скандала. Более того, трек «Snowblind» пришлось переписать заново, потому что в оригинале Осборн после каждого куплета издавал вопль: «Cocaine!» (и продолжал это делать впоследствии на концертных выступлениях (см. «Reunion», бутлег-альбом «Live at Last»).
В благодарственном списке Black Sabbath упоминают «the great COKE-Cola Company», также намекая на соответствующий наркотик. Кроме того, в те дни на белой бас-гитаре Гизера Батлера был стикер «Enjoy CoCaine», перефразировавший слоган «Enjoy CocaCola.»
Альбом отличается от предыдущих полным отсутствием мистических и (анти)религиозных мотивов в текстах. Более того, тексты «Changes» и «St.Vitus Dance» некоторыми критиками были расценены как банальные. C другой стороны «Supernaut» отмечалась как одна из самых тяжёлых вещей в репертуаре группы.
Журнал Kerrang! поставил альбом на 48-е место в списке «100 величайших металических альбомов всех времен».
В 2000 году журнал Q поставил Vol.4 на 60 место в списке «100 Величайших британских альбомов». В интервью, данному журналу Бек Хэнсен назвал рифы песни «Supernaut» своими любимыми, наравне с рифами песни Neil Young «Cinnamon Girl.» Фрэнк Заппа так же назвал эту песню одной из своих любимых.Supernaut так же являлась любимой песней Black Sabbath барабанщика Led Zeppelin Джона Бонэма.

Black Sabbath Vol. 4 - Fourth Studio Album Black Sabbath, recorded by a group with producer Patrick Miano and released on September 25, 1972. The album rose to # 8 in UK Albums Chart and up # 13 in Billboard 200. The only single from Tomorrow's Dream album came out in Germany, the Netherlands and France.
It was originally intended to name the Snowblind album, but a record-a company, knowing about cocaine subtext of the same track, scandal was frightened. Moreover, the Snowblind track had to rewrite anew, because in the original Osborne after each crowd published a cry: "Cocaine!" (and continued to do this later on concert performances (see "Reunion", Bootleg album "Live At Last").
In the Thanksgiving list, Black Sabbath mentions "The Great Coke-Cola Company", also hinting at the appropriate drug. In addition, in those days on the white bass guitar Gizer Batler was the sticker "Enjoy Cocaine", paraphrassed by the slogan "Enjoy Cocacola."
The album differs from the previous in the absence of mystical and (anti) religious motifs in the texts. Moreover, the texts of "Changes" and "St.vitus Dance" were regarded by some critics as banal. On the other hand, Supernaut was noted as one of the greatest things in the group repertoire.
Kerrang magazine! I put an album on the 48th place in the list "100 of the greatest metal albums of all time."
In 2000, Magazine Q put Vol.4 in the 60th place in the list of "100 of the greatest British albums." In an interview, this magazine Beck Hansen called the reefs of the song "SuperNaut" with their favorite, on a par with the reefs of the song Neil Young "CINNAMON GIRL." Frank Zapap also called this song one of his beloved .Supernaut was also the favorite song Black Sabbath drummer Led Zeppelin John Bonam.
