Студийным дебютом Heretic стал мини-альбом "Torture Knows No Boundary", выпущенный в свет в декабре 1986-го. Скопировано с Dark-World.ru. Хотя на конверте было упомянуто имя Торреса, в реальности вокальные партии на этом EP исполнил Джулиан Мендез, поскольку Майк успел переметнуться в Abattoir.

Альбом содержал всего пять композиций и по стилю напоминал нечто среднее между Armored Saint и Metal Church. Открывал пластинку убойный кавер Расса Балларда "Riding With The Angels", который в свое время перепевали также Samson и Брюс Дикинсон. За ним следовали три спид-металлических боевика собственного производства, "Blood Will Tell", "Portrait Of Faith" и "Whitechapel", причем от песни к песне темп постепенно снижался. Завершал же все дело мелодичный медляк-инструментал, который и дал название диску. Перед выходом второй пластинки прошло около двух лет, но на этот раз Heretic подготовили полноценный лонгплей. За истекший период в стане вокалистов вновь произошла замена, и вместо ушедшего в Stone Soldier Мендеза к микрофону встал Майк Хоу.

Продюсированием альбома помимо штатного сотрудника Metal Blade Билла Метойера занимался Курт Вандерхуф из Metal Church, и возможно поэтому "Breaking Point" звучал как пропущенное звено между "церковными" работами The Dark и Blessing In Disguise.

В целом команда продолжала умело балансировать между трэшем и пауэр-металлом, а боевой напор основной массы композиций перемежался с меланхоличными фрагментами. Так, акустическое интро в открывашке Heretic перерастало в хедбэнгерскую риффофку, любителям потрясти головой предназначался и следующий трек "And Kingdoms Fall", но далее темп несколько падал. Увесистый эпик "Time Runs Short" сменялся трехсполовинойминутным умиротворяющим инструменталом "Pale Shelter", а после страсти вновь накалялись, что подтверждалось трэшевиком "Shifting Fire" и скроенной на манер Judas Priest композицией "Let 'Em Bleed". Напор немного снижался на "Evil For Evil", а завершала программу пауэр-баллада "The Search".

В целом "Breaking Point" вполне заслуживал внимание металлической общественности, но уход Хоу в Metal Church не оставил команде никаких перспектив. Следом за Майком слинял и Бобби, но если последнего заменил Стюарт Фуджи, то достойного фронтмена найти не удалось. Проект рухнул, а оставшиеся "еретики" (за минусом Меррика) составили компанию Дэвиду Уэйну в Reverend.

В 2011 году Heretic возобновляют свою деятельность с изменённым составом.

After the release of the album, Mike Howe joined Metal Church, and Heretic split up. Some of the band members later participated in Reverend, a project by Metal Church's former vocalist, David Wayne.

After a short run in the metal underground of the 80s, Heretic disappeared into oblivion, leaving behind a half album and staff for more successful projects. The history of the group began in 1984, when the five Los Angeles musicians set out to set the heat in local clubs. These guys were called: Mike Torres (aka Mike Towers; vocals), Bobby Marquez (guitar), Brian Korban (guitar), Dennis O'Hara (bass) and Rick Merrick (drums). I must say that the team’s efforts did not go unnoticed for long, and soon the head of Metal Blade Records Brian Slagel came to her. For testing, he placed the track "Impulse" on the collection "Metal Massacre VII", and later offered the band a normal contract.

Heretic's studio debut was the mini-album "Torture Knows No Boundary", released in December 1986. Copied from Dark-World.ru. Although the name Torres was mentioned on the envelope, in reality, the vocal parts on this EP were performed by Julian Mendez, as Mike had time to transfer to Abattoir.

The album contained only five tracks and in style resembled a cross between Armored Saint and Metal Church. The record was opened by the slaughter cover of Russ Ballard's "Riding With The Angels", which Samson and Bruce Dickinson had also rehearsed. He was followed by three speed-metal action movies of his own production, "Blood Will Tell", "Portrait Of Faith" and "Whitechapel", and the pace gradually decreased from song to song. The whole thing was completed by the melodic lingering instrumental, which gave the name to the disc. About two years passed before the release of the second record, but this time Heretic prepared a full-length longplay. Over the past period, the vocalists' camp has again been replaced, and instead of Mendez, who left for the Stone Soldier, Mike Howe stood up to the microphone.

In addition to Bill Metoyer's full-time Metal Blade staff member, Kurt Vanderhoof of Metal Church was producing the album, which is probably why Breaking Point sounded like a missing link between The Dark and Blessing In Disguise.

In general, the team continued to skillfully balance between thrash and power metal, and the combat pressure of the bulk of the compositions was interspersed with melancholy fragments. So, the acoustic intro in the Heretic opener grew into a headbanger riff, the next track “And Kingdoms Fall” was also intended for fans to shake their heads, but then the pace somewhat fell. The weighty epic “Time Runs Short” was replaced by a three-half-minute pacifying instrumental “Pale Shelter”, and after passion they again glowed, which was confirmed by the thrash-player “Shifting Fire” and the composition “Let 'Em Bleed” tailored to the Judas Priest style. The pressure decreased slightly on "Evil For Evil", and completed the program of the power ballad "The Search".

In general, "Breaking Point" deserved the attention of the metal public, but Howe's departure to Metal Church did not leave the team any prospects. Following Mike, Bobby also faded, but if the latter was replaced by Stuart Fuji, then a worthy frontman could not be found. The project collapsed, and the remaining "heretics" (minus Merrick) made up David Wayne's company at Reverend.

In 2011, Heretic resumed their operations with a changed composition.
