В основу текста этой знаменитой песни было положенео стихотворение, сочиненное немецким поэтом Гансом Лейпом (1891-1983) в период его армейской (гарнизонной) службы в годы Великой (Первой мировой) войны. Между прочим, Лейп, волею судьбы, нес караульную службу в Берлине. Случилось так, что Ганс Лейп был влюблен сразу в двух девушек, с которыми встречался попеременно. Одну из них звали Лили, другую – Марлен. Обе девушки слились в представлении поэта в один образ желанной возлюбленной, соединиться с которой ему помешали война и солдатский долг. Положенное на музыку немецким композитором Норбертом Шультце (1911-1983), стихотворение Ганса Лейпа приобрело особенную популярность в исполнении певицы Лале Андерсен (1919-1972), став подлинным «шлягером» времен Европейской Гражданской войны (причем по обе стороны фронта), благодаря достаточно случайному стечению обстоятельств. Непритязательная, лиричная песня о молодом солдате караульной части, который надеется встретиться вновь с девушкой, в которую влюблен, 18 августа 1941 года случайно попала в программу концерта по заявкам радиослушателей солдатского «Радио Белград» . Успех песни оказался настолько ошеломляюшим, что с тех пор «Лили Марлен» выходила в эфир каждый вечер в 21:57. На многих участках фронта в это время вступало в силу своеобразное негласное «соглашение о прекращении огня», чтобы грохот выстрелов не мешал солдатам по обе стороны линии огня слушать задушевный, слегка хрипловатый голос далекой певицы. Интересно, что имперскому министру пропаганды Третьего рейха доктору Йозефу Геббельсу песня не понравилась. Он считал, что ее слова и музыка «отдают трупным запашком» и могут отрицательно сказаться на боевом духе германских войск, называл сочинение Ганса Лейпа «упадочническими виршами с привкусом средневековой пляски смерти» и в 1942 году запретил певице Лале Андерсен исполнять «Лили Марлен» на концертах, а после гибели германской 6-й армии генерал-фельдмаршала Фридриха Паулюса в советском окружении под Сталинградом запретил транслировать песню даже по радио. Между тем, к моменту запрета, «Лили Марлен» была переведена уже на 48 языков и превратилась, между прочим, в неотъемлемую состаную часть программ концертов по заявкам слушателей радиостанций западных союзников. По-английски ее исполняла эмигрировавшая перед войной из Третьего рейха немецкая киноактриса и певица Марлен Дитрих, по-французски – «парижский воробей» Эдит Пиаф.

LILY MARLEN

The text of this famous song was based on a poem composed by the German poet Hans Leip (1891-1983) during his army (garrison) service during the years of the Great (World War I). By the way, Leip, by the will of fate, was on guard duty in Berlin. It so happened that Hans Lape was in love with two girls with whom he met alternately. One of them was called Lily, the other was Marlene. Both girls merged in the poet’s view into one image of a coveted lover, to connect with whom he was prevented by war and soldierly duty. Put to music by the German composer Norbert Schultze (1911-1983), the poem by Hans Leip gained particular popularity in the performance of the singer Lale Andersen (1919-1972), becoming a genuine "hit" during the European Civil War (and on both sides of the front), thanks to a rather random coincidence. An unpretentious, lyrical song about a young soldier on guard who hopes to meet again with the girl in love, on August 18, 1941 accidentally got into the concert program at the request of the radio listeners of the soldier's Radio Belgrade. The success of the song was so overwhelming that since then “Lily Marlene” aired every night at 21:57. In many sectors of the front, a kind of unspoken “ceasefire agreement” entered into force at that time so that the rumble of shots would not interfere with soldiers on both sides of the line of fire listening to the distant singer’s sincere, slightly hoarse voice. Interestingly, Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the imperial minister of propaganda for the Third Reich, did not like the song. He believed that her words and music “give away a cadaveric smell” and could adversely affect the fighting spirit of the German troops, called Hans Lape’s composition “decadent verses with a touch of the medieval death dance” and forbade the singer Lale Andersen to perform “Lily Marlene” on 1942 concerts, and after the death of the German 6th Army, Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus in the Soviet environment near Stalingrad forbade broadcasting the song even on the radio. Meanwhile, by the time of the ban, Lily Marlene had already been translated into 48 languages ​​and, by the way, had become an integral part of concert programs at the request of listeners of radio stations of the Western Allies. In English, she was performed by the German film actress and singer Marlene Dietrich, who had emigrated before the war from the Third Reich, in French - by the “Parisian Sparrow” Edith Piaf.
