Роберт Майлз (настоящее имя - Роберто Кончина (Roberto Concina)) родился 3 ноября 1969 г. в г. Невшатель, Швейцария. Майлз - ди-джей и композитор, работающий в различных стилях электронной музыки, популяризатор стиля Dreamhouse (очень многие даже ошибочно считают его основателем стиля).

С детских лет он занимался игрой на фортепиано, хотя и не проявлял к этому особого интереса. Интерес к музыке возник позднее, когда Роберт становится старше.

В 1988 году он начал выступать в итальянских клубах в качестве ди-джея, а затем, в 1990 году решает заняться собственными музыкальными экспериментами, для чего покупает бывшее в употреблении оборудование для создания небольшой студии.
Первые работы остаются незамеченными публикой.

Но в 1994 году Майлз создает свою самую известную работу, dreamhouse-композицию "Children". В течении двух недель после официального выпуска в 1995-ом, сингл расходится более чем 30 тыс. копиями по всей Европе, возглавив хит-парады во многих странах. Запись получает статус платиновой в Великобритании и Германии, золотой во многих других. Композиция "Children" признана самым знаменитым синглом 1996 года.

Следующим синглом Роберта становится «Fable», вокал в которой принадлежит Фиорелле Квинн (Feralla Qunin). Дебютный альбом Майлза "Dreamland", выпущенный 7июня 1996 года в Европе, становится очень успешным и приносит своему создателю славу и деньги. Спустя некоторое время в США издается его расширенная версия, содержащая песню "One and One" в исполнении Марии Нэйлер (Maria Nayler). Эта песня приобрела популярность и отдельно была издана синглом в США и Великобритании.

В ноябре 1997 Майлз представляет песню "Freedom", которая войдет в его новый альбом "23AM", выпущенный 27 ноября 1997 года. Альбом выполнен в несколько отличном от "Dreamland" ключе, содержит сложные и нетипичные для "классического" dreamhouse аранжировки. Наряду с электроникой активно используются живые инструменты и голоса, различные элементы джаза, соула, эмбиента.

11 июня 2001 года на виниле и CD выпущен альбом "Organik". В этой работе Майлз практически полностью отходит от своего привычного звучания, создав 12 композиций из смеси ambient, nu jazz, world music, breakbeat, progressive, techno. Альбом создан в сотрудничестве с такими музыкантами как Bill Laswell, Nitin Sawhney и Trilok Gurtu.

В конце 2003 года Майлз переезжает из Лондона в Лос-Анджелес и основывает собственный звукозаписывающий лейбл S:alt records, где в 2004 году выходит новый альбом "Miles_Gurtu" , написанный совместно с индийским джазменом-перкуссионистом Трилоком Гурту (Trilok Gurtu).

At the end of 2003, Miles moves from London to Los Angeles and bases his own recording label S: Alt Records, where in 2004 the new album "Miles_Gurtu", written in conjunction with the Indian jazzman-percussionist Trilok Gurtu (Trilok Gurtu).
In this album, according to some critics, Miles finally finds its new style, a new sound: an intricate fabric consisting of a countless number of different sounds, wonderful tools and unexpected passages.
