Слушайте мою клятву и будьте свидетелями моего обета! Ночь собирается, и начинается мой дозор. Он не окончится до самой моей смерти. Я не возьму себе ни жены, ни земель, не буду отцом детям. Я не надену корону и не буду добиваться славы.
Я буду жить и умру на своем посту. Я — меч во тьме; я — дозорный на Стене; я — огонь, который разгоняет холод; я — свет, который приносит рассвет; я — рог, который будит спящих; я — щит, который охраняет царство людей. Listen to my oath and witness my vow! The night is going and my watch begins. It will not end until my death. I will not take for myself neither a wife nor land, I will not be a father to children. I will not wear a crown and will not seek glory.
I will live and die at my post. I am a sword in the dark; I am a watchman on the Wall; I am the fire that accelerates the cold; I am the light that brings the dawn; I am the horn that wakes the sleeping; I am the shield that protects the kingdom of men. I give my life and honor to the Night Watch in the middle of this night and all who come after it.
