    AKA Fire!

This show had been circulating in various states under the names 'Swiss Cheese' and 'Fire!,' however,
'Swiss Cheese' was the complete show (although both of their covert artwork is in here for posterity). This
is the complete recording of the entire concert, from the lengthy and egotistic intro to the sounds

“Apart from this incident, the 1971 European winter tour is worthy of the Most Unfortunate Touring prize. On December 4, we worked at the Casino de Montreux in Geneva, Switzerland, on the shore of the lake, directly opposite Igor Stravinsky Street, in the hall, famous for its jazz festivals.

In the midst of Don Preston's solo, a fire suddenly broke out on a synthesizer at King Kong. Someone from the audience launched a rocket or a Roman candle into the ceiling, after which the rattan lining instantly caught fire (according to another version, the fire occurred due to faulty wiring). Thousands of three or two and a half teens crammed into the hall - much more than it fit.

Since the bulk of the teenagers remained on the street and tried to break through, smart organizers firmly locked all the exits. When the fire started, the public had two ways to escape: through a rather narrow front door or through a mirror window to the side of the stage.

I made an announcement - something like this: “Please be calm. We must leave here. There is a fire. Maybe we’ll get out? ” It is simply amazing how well you are understood by people who speak only French when it comes to life and death. The audience began to go in a single file through the main entrance.

The room was filled with smoke, and someone from our technical staff broke the window with a box from the equipment.

Then our entire team began to help people get out through the window into the garden located below. The group escaped through a tunnel behind the stage, which led to an underground garage.

A couple of minutes later, the heating system exploded, and several people were thrown out the window. Fortunately, no one died, only some escaped with minor injuries - however, the building, which cost about thirteen million dollars, was burned to the ground, and we lost equipment.

It happened at the very height of the tour, there were ten concerts left, all tickets had already been sold out. At the hotel, most of the musicians insisted on ending the tour - at least to try. However, there was a problem: our equipment is not the best in the world, but we used special tools, including the custom Fender-Rodz electric piano and other specific synthesizing equipment that you simply can’t buy in Switzerland. My guitar is gone. All stage light has disappeared. Amps are gone.

We canceled all the performances a week in advance and began to scour the search for new equipment. The idea was this: to get to England two days before the Big Concert in the Rainbow Hall and have time to rehearse with new equipment. We had two concerts, two concerts each, and everyone should get comfortable with a new instrument ... "
