Ом (санскр. ॐ или А́ум) - в индуистской и ведической традиции - сакральный звук, изначальная мантра. Часто интерпретируется как символ божественной троицы Брахмы, Вишну и Шивы, квинтэссенция Слова. Считается, что звук Ом (Аум) был первым проявлением неявленного еще Брахмана, давшим начало воспринимаемой Вселенной, произошедшей от вибрации, вызванной этим звуком.

Слог ОМ - это маха-биджа-мантра. Слово маха означает «великий», биджа — «семя, источник, причина». Маха-биджа означает, что слог ОМ является источником всех мантр. В ведической традиции считается, что все Веды, вся вселенная и все существа произошли из слога ОМ.

ОМ - основной звук, из которого произошли все прочие звуки и их обозначения - буквы. Если правильно произносить ОМ, то проявится реальная форма тонкого и неслышимого состояния звука. ОМ есть манифестация первоосновной космической вибрации.

Три звука заключены в ОМ: А-У-М. У каждой из этих букв много значений. При правильном произнесении ОМ звук зарождается из пупа с глубокой и гармоничной вибрацией и постепенно поднимается к межбровью, где звучит как носовой звук М.

ОМ проявляется в журчанье ручейка, в шелесте листьев, реве тигра, звоне колоколов, грохоте барабанов, музыке сфер, пении птиц, в разговоре людей и в смехе детей.

А-У-М означает время, пространство и причину; прошлое, настоящее и будущее; рождение, развитие и смерть; начало, середину и конец; дух, ум и материю; три состояния сознания: бодрствование, сон со сновидениями и сон без сновидений. Четвертое состояние сознания, турия, состояние единства, находится вне этих трех и выражается молчанием (неуловимой вибрацией, следующей за звуком М).

Звук «Ом» является самым священным звуком в индуизме. Помимо олицетворения индуистской божественной троицы, он, сам по себе, является наивысшей мантрой, символизируя собой брахман (высшую реальность) и Вселенную как таковую. Три его составляющих (А, У, М) традиционно символизируют Создание, Поддержание и Разрушение - категории космогонии Вед и индуизма.

Считается также, что три звука символизируют три уровня существования — рай (сварга), землю (мартья) и подземное царство (патала). В Ведах звук «Ом» является звуком Солнца и Света. Он символизирует собой движение вверх, приближение души к горным сферам.

Священное значение мантры «Ом» в индуизме трудно переоценить. Практически все священные тексты индуистской и ведической традиции начинались и заканчивались этим звуком.

В кришнаизме составляющие звука Ом также указывают: А - на Кришну, У - на Его энергию, М - на все живые существа.

Ohm is the main sound from which all other sounds and their designations occurred are the letters. If I am correctly pronounced, then the real form of a thin and unreasonable sound state will appear. OM is the manifestation of the primary cosmic vibration.

Three sounds are concluded in OM: A-U-M. Each of these letters has many values. With properly utterance, the sound is emerging from the PUP with deep and harmonious vibration and gradually rises to interburs, where it sounds like the nose sound of M.

Ohms manifests itself in the murmur of the stream, in the rustle of the leaves, the roar of the tiger, the bells, the roar of the drums, the music of spheres, the singing of birds, in the conversation of people and in the laughter of children.

A-U-M means time, space and reason; past, present and future; Birth, development and death; beginning, middle and end; spirit, mind and matter; Three states of consciousness: wakefulness, dreams with dreams and sleep without dreams. The fourth state of consciousness, turde, the state of unity, is beyond these three and is expressed by silence (elusive vibration following the sound of M).

The sound of "OM" is the most sacred sound in Hinduism. It is also considered that three sounds symbolize three levels of existence - Paradise (Svarga), the Earth (Men) and the Underground Kingdom (Patal). In the Vedas, the sound of the "Ohm" is the sound of the sun and light. It symbolizes the movement up, approaching the soul to the mountain sectors.

The sacred meaning of the "Ohm" mantra in Hinduism is difficult to overestimate. Almost all the sacred texts of Hindu and Vedic tradition began and ended with this sound.

In Krishnaism, the components of the sound of Om also indicate: a - on Krishna, y - on its energy, M - on all living things.
